The ascent of Port de Valldemossa is a jewel in the middle of the Tramuntana Mountains. This climb is known as 'Sa calobreta', since it is a version of almost 6 km uphill and less traveled than the famous Sa Calobra. In this post you will find the best tips to enjoy the descent and ascent to the spectacular Port de Valldemossa.

The town of Valldemossa is known for its cobbled streets and its unique beauty, in addition to being located in a Idyllic enclave in the middle of the Sierra de Tramuntana, next to the MA-10 highway that crosses the entire Sierra. Less known is the Port of Valldemossa, although without reason since it has nothing to envy the village.

At the exit of Valldemossa, along the Ma-10 highway, in the direction of Esporlas, there is a sign on the right side that says 'Port de Valldemossa', if you turn along that road you will go down to the impressive Port. You have to be careful with this descent, since it is very narrow and winding, in addition to having uneven asphalt. The positive part is that this road is little traveled, although you still have to be vigilant since in some sections there is no space for a car and a bike at the same time.

Below the road is arrive at the Port of Valldemossa, a port that will amaze you, both for the cobblestone streets and the sea views. You can have a drink in the bars although personally I would not let my legs cool down before ascending again to the MA-10 highway.

The ascent is very constant between 6-8% throughout the climb, and be careful with the curves, some of which reach a 15% slope. As with the descent, you must be careful of the poor condition of the asphalt and other vehicles, as well as some goats that live near the road.

Here is the Strava segment of great part of the ascent: https://www.strava.com/segments/11322769

Although the poor condition of the road is mentioned, you can ascend and descend without problems, and I assure you that it is worth the It's worth going down to this port to enjoy one of the most beautiful landscapes in Mallorca.

On your next holiday in Mallorca with Arrivo cycling you should put this port on your must-do list, for sure you won't regret!
